TheToonPlanet is my illustration and design portfolio. I’m David Figueiras, from Asturias, Spain, and drawing has been my thing since I was a kid. It still is, and it shows in the details.
If a design needs explaining, it isn’t working, so I let the work speak for itself. If I have to name the style, it’s a unique, modern and vector flat aesthetic with a cartoon edge.
I use it across illustration and graphic design: children’s illustration, advertising illustration, character design, editorial design, packaging, branding, logo design and icon design. If your project isn’t on the list, ask anyway.
I studied Graphic Design at the Escuela Superior de Arte del Principado de Asturias and did the Higher Certificate in Illustration at the Escuela de Arte de Oviedo, first of my year. Everything on this site comes out of that training and a lot of hours at the drawing board.
My first contact with the world of graphic design was very long ago. I was only five when I sat down to play with my father’s 386 computer, which was a very powerful machine at that time. When I was a kid my dream was to be a pilot, but instead of making paper airplanes, it seems I just prefer playing with clip-art of planes in Corel Draw 3. And the rest was just drawing, more drawing, hard work and learning from the experience.
